| ‘The course is set on the rolling
heath-land high on the border of Sussex and Hampshire south-west
of Liphook. It is difficult to imagine that this patch of land could
be anything but a golf course. It was crying out for tees and flags
long before 1921, when architect Arthur Croome at last did the decent
thing and laid out a course which is both charming and challenging.’
Mark Simpson wrote this appreciation of the course in 1992. ‘There
can be few better reasons for staying alive than to play this lovely
little gem every day’. |
