9TH TEE PATH AND 14TH GREENSIDE PATH PROJECTS
INTRODUCTION
MANY MEMBERS WILL BE AWARE, PARTICULARLY THOSE, WHO IN THE PAST, HAVE SERVED ON THE GENERAL COMMITTEE, THAT THESE PROJECTS ARE NOT NEW IDEAS, BUT HAVE BEEN IN THE PIPELINE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. WE ARE NOW DELIGHTED TO BE IN A POSITION TO TACKLE BOTH PROJECTS AND MAKE A SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT TO THE AREA AS A WHOLE.
14TH PATH PROJECT
THE PATH TO THE LEFT OF THE 14TH GREEN AND LEADING TO THE ROAD CROSSING IS TO BE REPOSTIONED. THE PATH WILL NOW BE SITUATED SLIGHTLY FURTHER FROM THE GREEN AND HEAD TO THE ROAD CROSSING ON A MORE DIRECT ROUTE. THE REASON BEHIND THIS PROJECT IS TO REMOVE THE UNSIGHTLY PATH AWAY FROM THE GREEN AND IMPROVE THE NATURAL SURROUNDING AREA.
9TH TEE PATH PROJECT
A NEW PATH WILL BE ROUTED DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE 9TH TEE AND JOIN WITH THE EXISTING PATH AS IT GOES PAST THE 9TH LADIES TEE. THE REASON FOR THIS PROJECT IS TO IMPROVE THE AREA TO THE RIGHT OF THE 8TH GREEN AND SURROUNDING THE 9TH TEE.
AS PART OF THE ABOVE PROJECT IT WAS DECIDED TO LIFT THE TURF FROM THE WHITE AND YELLOW TEES, REALIGN THEM TO THE FAIRWAY, LEVEL THE SURFACES AND RETURF.
WORK ON THESE PROJECTS COMMENCED ON 21ST NOVEMBER.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
SEQUENCE OF WORK
1. Dig out new path 14th to crossing point and stockpile spoil removed (David Tull). Discard waste turf but keep usable turf for finishing work later in the project (Greenstaff).

2. Fill new path with scalpings, top with redpave and open for use (David Tull).

3. Remove sprinklers and turf from tees (Greenstaff).

4. Rope off and safety fence where required and re-route golfers to the left and between 8th and 14th greens to get to the 9th tee (Greenstaff).
5. Start digging out new path alongside 9th tee and pile spoil on existing path - leave entry point to the 9th tees open from between 8th and 14th greens (David Tull).

6. Fill path with scalpings and redpave (David Tull).

7. Both new paths now open for use on 9th and 14th. Block off area between the 8th and 14th greens and use new paths only now. Leave areas alongside 9th new path to allow for entry to the 8th green and exit to 9th tee for golfers using trolleys or buggies. All disrupted areas to remain GUR and closed off with safety fencing.
8. Trim branches on oak trees next to the white tee (Green Frontiers).

9. Shape and level area to be returfed on white tee (David Tull).

10. Contour and prepare ground on existing path alongside 9th tee (remove existing sleepers) ready for turf and heather. Level and shape the yellow tee (David Tull).
11. Start filling in existing 14th path and contour area (David Tull).

12. Returf and heather all surrounding areas (Greenstaff).
13. Re install sprinklers on white and yellow tees (Lakes and Greens).

14. Returf the tees (Greenstaff)
