Players are reminded of Section
I of the Rules of Golf, especially:
“Priority on the course is determined by a group’s
pace of play. Any group playing a whole round is entitled to
pass a group playing a shorter round. It is a group’s responsibility
to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole
and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group
behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players
in that group.”.
Start times
It may be helpful to know when the 1 st and 10 th tees are likely to be occupied by regular groups of members who tend to play at the same time each week.
There are three types of group which tend to occupy the tees:
First are the visiting societies, matches, Ladies’, Juniors’ and Bohunt events whose starting times are circulated in the monthly calendar and posted in the web diary.
Second are roll-ups open to all male members which play off the 10 th tee on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Third are groups of friends who like to go out together at the same time each week – and sometimes more than once a week. These have the same rights as other golfers – on the first tee, the order of play is ruled by the balls in the chute, on the 10 th, by the arrival of all players in each group.
The following is a rough guide which will hopefully help all members and reduce congestion.
